AdaptAbilities

AdaptAbilities is a registered charitable organization dedicated to providing a variety of goal-directed respite programs for children and adults with special needs. We focus on the individual and create an environment where participants have an opportunity to increase self-esteem, gain independence, develop social relations and foster a sense of community.

Adoption Council of Canada (ACC)

The Adoption Council of Canada (ACC) is the umbrella organization for adoption in Canada. Based in Ottawa, the ACC raises public awareness of adoption, promotes the placement of waiting children and youth, and stresses the importance of post-adoption services. Our services include adoption resources, referrals, education and support.
As a national non-profit organization that receives little government funding, the ACC is greatly dependent on the support from its national membership base, as well as donations from the general public.

Adoption Options

Adoption Options is a Canadian pioneer of open adoptions. They are Alberta’s longest-operating and largest licensed agency for private adoptions. Their website provides valuable information about what open adoption is.

Autism Society of Edmonton Area

The Autism Society of Edmonton Area (ASEA) helps families and communities embrace and support people on the autism spectrum throughout their lives.

Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH)

AISH is a government program providing financial assistance to adults with severe and permanent disabilities.

Child Welfare League of Canada

CWLC is an active voice in promoting best practices in child welfare. They promote the well-being and protection of Canada’s young people, with member organizations in every province and territory.

Edmonton Cerebral Palsy Association

The ECPA provides assistance to individuals and families affected by Cerebral Palsy, including funding support.

Edmonton & District Family Support Association

Offering support to foster, kinship, foster-to-adopt, adoptive, and biological families. Resources include the membership’s wide knowledge of the child welfare system, a clothing bank, and meeting rooms.

Edmonton Epilepsy Association

The EEA works to assure the well being of persons with epilepsy through increased public awareness and education and further, to address specific concerns, both personal and social, that these individuals experience.

Edmonton Fetal Alcohol Network (EFAN)

Are you looking for Fetal alcohol Spectrum Disorder resources, programs, services or supports in Edmonton and surrounding area? The Edmonton and area Fetal Alcohol Network (EFAN) is a collaborative venture made up of individuals from community agencies, governmental departments and concerned citizens, which recognize the significant opportunity to achieve valuable social impacts through a grassroots partnership. EFAN works to enhance the capacity of our community to prevent Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and support those impacted by FASD through coordinated planning, collaboration, education, service delivery and advocacy.

Elves Special Needs Society (ELVES)

Elves Special Needs Society provides individuals with severe disabilities and special needs with a unique, individualized, educational or day program to promote their maximum development and to enhance the quality of life of the individuals and their families within a supportive and caring environment.

InnovAID

At InnovAID, we provide aids to make life easier and more enjoyable . While our products are especially designed to fit children of all ages, we can create products to fit special challenges of adults as well. Many of our products help people who have sensory concerns, such as autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorders (SPD) or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. In addition to our standard products, we can customize many of our products to suit your unique needs. Have a special concern? We may be able to create a product that addresses your specific needs.

Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta, Edmonton Chapter

LD Edmonton hosts support groups, information sessions, and conferences, helping you get all the support you need when touched by a learning disability.

North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC)

NACAC is dedicated to promoting adoption as a way to get school-aged children into permanent families. Their mainstay is a large and popular yearly conference on adoption issues. Their website has a wealth of information on all adoption issues in both Canada and the United States.

Post Adoption Registry (PAR)

The Alberta Post Adoption Registry maintains the sealed adoption records for all granted adoptions completed in the province of Alberta. This program provides reunion services and information to adult adoptees, adoptive parents and birth family. There are no fees for registry services.

Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD)

A government resource to provide services to adults with severe development disabilities.

Schizophrenia Society of Alberta

We work to improve the quality of life for those affected by schizophrenia and psychosis through education, support programs, public policy and research.
